Powrtouch H/D3 Mover I have just completed the successful installation of the above model Caravan Mover, and am pleased to enclose the duly completed Guarantee Form. The Mover has been fitted to our Buccaneer Caribbean Caravan, which we keep on our (not too large!) front garden. I found the accompanying Instruction Manual to be exceedingly comprehensive and yet delightfully straight forward to follow DIY Fitting. Having followed the Installation Instructions (to the letter!) we were absolutely delighted when having switched on the Isolator and ‘fired-up’ the handset, low and behold we could navigate our Caravan around the confines of our garden completely effortlessly and in ANY DIRECTION – WOW! | 25th April 2011 | Dear Sirs, I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation for the fantastic after sales service I have recently received from yourselves. On wed April 13th April I was ready to go to a Vanmaster Rally at Chipping Norton. The mover, as usual, moved the caravan to the car but then the rollers would not disengage from the tyres on the wheel. After manually moving the rollers off the wheel, I then phoned yourselves. I was told to go on the rally and you would send the local engineer to come and fix the problem whilst I was on the rally. Your local engineer (who incidentally only lived in chipping Norton) phoned to arrange a time and duly came. He was very pleasant, friendly and efficient. He not only fitted 2 new motors but also a new spring loaded switch all free of charge. It is very nice these days to find a manufacturer who deals with after sales guarantee without any quibbles, ifs, buts etc. The other rallies on the field were also impressed and it must have done your reputation a world of good. | 7th April 2011 | By Email... Good Morning, A few days ago I telephoned your sales office to enquire about a replacement 'red' key – the one that activates the battery and power to the mover. Whilst travelling down to Poole the battery locker cover on my caravan opened and my one and only key fell out. Unfortunately, I didn’t take a note of the lady that I spoke to at your company. I wanted to write to express my thanks to the lady for her excellent customer service and speedy action. I was told that not one but two replacement keys would be sent out usually by second class post. As I was staying in Poole for 6 nights it was agreed that the keys would be sent to the site that I was staying on and given the number of days the post should hopefully reach me before departure. As it turned out the keys arrived by first class post and in good time. Furthermore, no request for payment was enclosed. I can’t thank Powrtouch enough for helping me out. I’m sure you can track down the name of your employee in the sales team by reference to my name so please pass on my thanks. Finally, I’ve learnt my lesson not to carry a key in the battery locker. We were on site in Chesterfield on Friday 1.4.11 and one of the rollers would not disengage from the wheel. I rang you engineer number on Saturday 2.4.11 and spoke to Rob who could not have been more helpful in giving me instructions on how to release the roller manually. The mover worked fine after that but not content with that Rob arranged for an engineer to visit the site (Richard). I was kept informed and told it would be about an hour or so. Richard arrived in about 30 minutes and again couldn;t have been more helpful and changed the motor and showed me how to grease the mover (something which perhaps should have been done by my original dealer?). People are all too quick to criticise customer service when its bad and don't give any feedback when the service is good or in your case excellent. The main reason that we chose your product over others is because we kept reading on the internet about how good your after sales service was, and we know how important this is. On another note we thought it may be useful to you to have feedback on your outside contracters that you use for fitting your products. Our fitters were AC Caravans from Boston in Lincolnshire. Firstly they contacted us at 9 a.m. on the day of delivery. We arranged a day and time and they arrived when they said they would. In June 2007 I purchased a new Sterling caravan and asked for a mover to be fitted at the same time. When I took delivery of the caravan they gave me a demonstration of the mover, a Powrtouch and I later found that no documentation about its use was included. The company where I bought the caravan wrote to me within a month telling me that they were no longer dealing with touring caravans and I need to look elsewhere for service. Last year I fitted a new battery to the caravan and all seemed well until the beginning of this year when the mover appeared not to work. I emailed your company and was contacted by Rob from your offices. He took the matter in hand, gave advice that I had not had before and was thoroughly professional in resolving everything. At the Manchester Show just over a week ago,I went to vent my frustration on to Powrwheel. I spoke to a gentleman and showed him a letter stating what my concerns were. My background is in customer service in the motor industry, and as i have retired due to spinal problems my focus is very much on customer service. J Johnson Ilkeston Dear Sir/Madam I believe that people are too ready to complain these days about bad customer service so I am writing to ask if you could publish my letter in the Caravan Club Magazine to commend the excellent customer service from Powrwheel Motor Movers. We purchased a caravan mover from Powrwheel 5 years ago last month. When the mover was a couple of years old, we had torrential rain when we arrived at our holiday campsite and we accidentally got the handset wet. As a result of this, we had problems with it and we rang Powrwheel. They immediately posted a new handset to the campsite which arrived within 48 hours and we just posted the original one back to them when we got home. The mover has been excellent, it has been well used and we couldn’t have managed without it. We decided to transfer it onto our new caravan that we have ordered and have just had it removed from our old one. We have discovered that it needs new rollers and at this point I wasn’t sure if it was still under warranty and so I rang Powrwheel. The mover was a month outside the 5 year warranty but Powrwheel didn’t hesitate. They said they would send me new rollers as a good will gesture as it was just out of the 5 year warranty, if we could get them fitted when the mover is put on our new van. Once again these arrived within 48 hours. What excellent customer service, attitude and product. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them and would certainly buy their products again. We had to cancel some of our holidays in 2009 because I suffered a bout of Sciatica and was unable to move the Caravan about, thinking I had overcome the problem early 2010, my wife and I set off again but the sciatica returned while on holiday, on return we made inquiries about having a mover fitted, I went on to the internet to get as much information as I could and decided I would like a Powrwheel Mover, I found a couple of local service agents, I contacted one of them, John, who gave me a lot of good advice and recommended that I rang you and speak to Theresa for a price and organize the fitting, which I did, this was on 1 June 2010, the mover was received on the 4th. and fitted on the 8th, it was pouring with rain all day, but John still came and fitted it then gave us a full demonstration. Wonderful service from both yourselves and John, who I had never met before, but he has just been back and completed a full service on the caravan ready for 2011, he is a Person you could recommend knowing you would get a good job done . We only wish we had had a Mover fitted years ago, not waited over 40 years, in it makes everything easy, but still better late than never. | 10th October 2010 | By Email... Dear Sirs, Last Friday evening (1st October) we were on site in Moreton in March and had the misfortune to have a fault with our mover. One of the drive rollers would not disconnect from the tyre and thus we would not be able to leave the site as planned on Sunday to return to work! On Saturday morning I called the number shown in the instruction manual and was given very helpful and clear instructions on how to release the roller manually. The engineer concerned was very polite and courteous. Further he advised that this problem was not unknown and that he would arrange to have new parts shipped to a local fitter so that the problem could be resolved during the following week. Some 2 or 3 days later a local fitter (Trevor) called to arrange a convenient time to carry out the modification. Once again we were very impressed by the speed of the service provided and the especially helpful manner of the Trevor. People are often quick to complain but rarely take the trouble to offer thanks for exceptional service. We feel that such service deserves special recognition and hence this e-mail to you. | 28th September 2010 | By Email... Hi, In March 2008, we purchased a Powrtouch Heavy Duty from your company and it was fitted on to our Fleetwood 2000 caravan. We are both in our sixties, and I suffer from the usual health problems, mostly involving my back and knees. We were considering giving caravaning up, however, we decided to give the Powrtouch mover a try as a last resort. What a wise decision it turned out to be as it gave us a new lease of life in caravaning. Furthermore, we recently sold our Fleetwood 2000 and purchased a Bailey Pegasus 534. As a mover was not supplied with the new caravan we naturally had our mover transferred over to the new van by an approved fitter, I have to say things work out perfectly. As part of the new caravans security system package they supplied the latest Alco Secure Wheel Lock. This lock requires a very fine adjustment to the rotation of the wheel to get the 'locking nut' to fit. It is in my experience, apart from being very time consuming, it is nearly impossible to get that fine adjustment without the use of the Powrtouch mover. Having contacted you via your Web site with a query regarding price and availability of replacement rollers for my Model one Mover I was surprised to receive a telephone call the following morning from one of your support team, named Colin I think, who apologized for the fact that the rollers were currently out of stock but should arrive within ten days. He suggested that if I liked to place an order he would ensure that the goods were dispatched asap and then went on to give me, what subsequently turned out to be several very useful tips, on removing the old rollers. I fully expected that ten days would become at at least a month, but was very pleasantly surprised when on the eleventh day, It was a Monday, the rollers arrived at 8.30am. I am very impressed with the way my request was handled, the fact that promises were kept and that Powrwheel had obviously taken on board, the fact that the original rollers were not long lasting and had improved the design with something very much stronger and lighter. | 20th July 2010 | Dear Mr Clark I am writing to you after receiving the best customer service in over 20 years. I fitted your twin axle mover to my caravan in 2004, and have had six years of trouble free use. However on Saturday I attempted to move the caravan and found I had a fault with the mover. I telephoned your customer service department, out of desperation, and was surprised when my call was answered. (It was Saturday morning and I had assumed that the office was closed.) Your employee Rob answered the call, and talked me through some checks over the phone. He soon identified the fault was with the remote transmitter and that it required repair. I explained that I had just sold the caravan and it was being collected on Monday, but was now unable to move the van. He kindly offered to try and repair the remote that morning if I could get to Christchurch before the office closed at 1pm. I left immediately but the heavy traffic was delaying my progress and I did not believe I would make it by 1pm. I telephoned Rob again from the car, and he reassured me not to worry and he would wait for my arrival. I finally got there at 1.15pm. He warmly greeted me and started to identify the fault with the remote. Within 15 minutes he had replaced a faulty capacitor by salvaging spare parts fro the office and corrected the fault. I asked how much I owed for the repair. ‘Nothing’ was his reply. I was astonished and asked again. He explained that as he had ‘salvaged’ parts there was no charge. I again tried to pay him, but he flatly refused saying it was all part of the service. I ended up giving him a small donation that he was going to forward to the charity of his choice. Customers are always quick to criticise and slow to praise. Rob not only stayed late to wait my arrival, but also quickly repaired the remote without any charge and without any sign of annoyance at being delayed. Your after sales service is indeed exemplary. I had a new mover fitted several months ago and have been delighted with it. I came to remove the battery for charging ready for another break, this was on a Saturday morning and found that a crimped cable in the battery box had become ‘uncrimped’ hence deactivating the mover. I took the battery home, phoned the technical support and he said an engineer would phone for an appointment, about 15 mins later on a Saturday afternoon the engineer called and arranged to make the repair at the storage area on the Sunday on his way home from work! I called yesterday morning to ask if you could sort out my mover as when returning home from assisting the Caravan Club with their team of riders doing the London 'Brighton Bike Ride' one motor would not work. | 19th June 2010 | Dear Sir / Madam May I please take this opportunity to express our very grateful thanks to your company’s response after a telephone call from Mark the owner of ‘Caratech’ Enterprise Park Saxilby Linconshire. He made a call to discuss the problem without hesitation. Our caravan was in for service, he rang us and pointed out that he had concern than an unusual noise was noted from the drive mechanism on the off side wheel and had I heard it, being very hard of hearing the answer was no. The phone call was quickly followed up by your company to say that you had the details and the date that the mover was fitted and would be covered by the guarantee even though it was 3 years since being fitted, also to say that I would be contacted to have the work carried out at my home. I had a phone call within the next day or two to say that a Technician would be coming on the day we agreed, and he did a very professional person called Jeff from Arnold Nottingham. A quick cup of tea and test of the mover out came the carpet and three tool boxes along with a socket set work started motor off gearbox stripped close inspection on both parts resulted in a complete new offside mechanism being fitted and very successful job indeed. My whole point of this big Thank You is that not only do you give a valid 5 year guarantee you also have a network of very professional Technicians out there and we still have some very good service companies to go to, our grateful thanks to Powrtouch for caring for the customer. My unit was 4 1/2 years old and I had cause for complaint, the details you will know about. Within hours of sending my e-mail, I was contacted and asked to wait a day until a decision was made on what to do next. The next day I was duly informed what was to be done and agreed. The parts arrived by carrier and the fitter (Adrian) rang to make an appointment to fit and turned up exactly as promised. The job was done not only to my complete satisfaction, but over and beyond the call of duty. In these days of 'couldn't care less' attitudes, it is refreshing to find a firm that really believes in after sales service. This is my second powerwheel, my friend who I recommended loves his, I would not consider buying any other unit just to save a few quid. All in all a firm stands or falls by its after sales service, that being the case, you have many more years of trading ahead. I would not hesitate to recommend powrwheel to anyone. I had the mover transferred from a caravan I recently traded in and put onto my new Coachman caravan. I paid a third party £195 for doing this for me. As you are aware from your service engineer they had made a mess of transferring and re-fitting it by not aligning it property, the polarity was reversed on the hand held unit and the movers had been set much too far from the tyres. Whilst the mover was still under guarantee I did not expect you to re-do their botched job. I do hope you managed to get this payment of £195 from them. I think your company is a great one to deal with and I have nothing but praise for my motor mover. | 19th May 2010 | Dear Sir/Madam We had hitched our caravan up ready to go for a service, on Monday, however, when we came to release the Powrtouch, it wouldn’t! We rang the number on the remote and were given clear, helpful instructions on how to temporarily sort the problem. We then took the van down to our local dealer as planned. It had been our intension to pick the van up on Wednesday and go off for a few days. We have had 3 weeks holiday in 4 years, due to family illness and bereavement, so were really looking forward to this break and were upset at the thought that the Powrmover problem might stop us. Your fitter made 3 attempts to contact us and left answer phone messages. (We were visiting Mum in law who is in hospital). He finally got through at 7.30 that evening, what perseverance! He said that he would get to our van and sort out the problem on Wednesday. Although we were disappointed that we would not get away as planned, we were still grateful that it would be sorted quickly. When we mentioned that we had intended going away, however, Brian completely changed his routes and plans so that he could get to our van on Tuesday. He did this, replaced 2 motors and a switch and phoned us to let us know the fault had been corrected. We cannot thank him enough for saving our break (and sanity!). We could have gone away without the Powrtouch, but then we would have had to organise a service and the fact it was done in the dealer’s yard, just made everything so much easier for us. Sunday we received a phone call from Peter explaining he was your engineer and apologising for disturbing us on a Sunday afternoon but found that it was usually then or evenings that he managed to catch people in and I said no problem at all. The engineer, Richard Cowen, turned up bright and early this morning exactly at the arranged time and set to work straight away. | 1st April 2010 | Dear Powrwheel, When servicing my single axle heavy duty mover this year week I notice that the ‘grip’ material on one of the rollers was coming away, possibly due to a stone being jammed on. Although the 5 warrantee expires in September 2010, when contacting your technical department they arranged without hesitation for an engineer to fit new rollers. Now that’s what you call a no quibble guarantee! Peter the engineer was efficient, very pleasant and obviously extremely knowledgeable on the Powrtouch. I purchased a Powrtouch mover in 2007 after reading reviews in Practical Caravan Magazine/Caravan Club Magazine I was impressed by the product and of course by the 5yr no quibble guarantee. I have had 2 trouble free yrs with the mover up until a couple of wks ago when the inevitable happened it started to play up!!! Whilst I was away from home on a site. However I contacted your technical dept for help and the guy on the phone (I did not get his name) was excellent he tried his best at talking me through some trouble shooting points but was unable to get me going. He informed me that an engineer would contact me that evening at home. I managed to get my van home and got it on my drive with a winch. I was contacted that same evening by a fellow called Richard Cowen who arranged to come to my home to fix the problem. He arrived on time was very professional and courteous and within a few minutes had diagnosed the problem he contacted your company for approval to carry out the work and this was of course granted. To summarise then excellent customer service excellent product and I will have no hesitation in recommending Powr Products to anyone and if I ever need to change the mover then it will of course be a Powrtouch model. On the evening of Sunday 4th Oct 09 I sent you an email explaining one of the rollers on my motor mover had shed all its grit coating (and that the other roller was about to do the same) NB Since 2005 all Powrtouch movers have solid cast alloy rollers as we were moving the caravan off the drive on the Friday to go away caravanning for the weekend. On the Monday someone from your company phoned and left and reassuring message on our telephone answer machine, saying we were registered and the mover was still under the guarantee and therefore the replacement rollers would be dispatched to us soonest and that once they arrive a fitter would be in touch to make an appointment to fit them. The items duly arrived and having taken a look at the rollers I decided I could fit them myself, it was so easy and only took me 1.5 hours. So I did not need the services of the fitter, he did phone and I explained I had already fitted them and all was well again with the mover. Thank you once again for the excellent service. Theresa, Firstly the PowrLaunch has now been fitted to my satisfaction (the first control board was faulty) and I just can't say how fantastic a piece of kit it is. I keep my boat in a garage with a single up and over door there is 1cm clearance each side. It is a joy to be able to move the boat in and out without any physical effort. My back and knees are very grateful. The degree of fine control is outstanding and I can manoeuvre it to literally 1/4 inch of where I want. It will also make it possible for me to use some of the less friendly but non-tidal slipways in my area so I will get a lot more use from my boat. It is the best money I have spent for a long time and the build quality of the components is also first class. I reserve my highest praise though for your fitter John Lynch who was patient, helpful, methodical and full of information. Not only did he fit the system he showed me exactly how he fitted it and explained everything thoroughly so I can maintain it correctly. His workmanship is also first class, everything is tidy everything fits and all clearances are perfect. Finally you didn't take any money from me until the system was working correctly - how refreshing a change from so many other suppliers. | 25th Spetember 2009 | Dear Mr Palmer I am writing to thank you for your help and advice in our hour of need as we returned from our holiday in France. I waggled the connections on the near side mover the following morning which proved to be solution. We returned home to Derbyshire next day to find replacement rubber boots on the doormat. When time allowed I replaced both boots as they were showing signs of deterioration, the near side more than the other. One connector on each side seamed to slide off quite easily but with slight crimping the system operates as good as new! As explained we had two awkward drives to contend with and your prompt return of call on the boat to overcome our immediate problem and your subsequent prompt dispatch of replacement parts is very much appreciated. | 23rd September 2009 | Dear Mr Clark A short not of appreciation for the terrific service provided by your company, especially Mr Ron Palmer. I will detail the events below: 1. My wife and I were on holiday in the Loire Valley in France when our motor mover stopped working. We did the usual checks on batteries but all was fine. 2. On 7 September approx 16.30hrs I rang your technical advice line and was put on to Mr Palmer. 3. I explained the problem I had and he provided detailed and appropriate advice but could not get the unit working. 4. He them promised to send the necessary parts required that I could fit myself to get the mover working again. 5. My wife and I continued with our holiday and 3 days later the parts arrived at our camp site. 6. I was able to replace the parts and the mover was as good as new. In the past, whenever I tried to move the caravan with muscle-power, the jockey wheel would dig into the surface and churn up the gravel. I have used the caravan mover 5 times now. He arrived on time 3 days later to install it. His work was clean, tidy and efficient and he was quite happy for me to watch everything he did. This helps me to understand how the equipment works. He then gave me a thorough explanation about how to operate it all. All in all a good experience. I am confident my caravanning will be much enhanced by having the Powrtouch installed. | 20th July 2009 | Dear Sir Just a note to say that we had a caravan mover fitted to our Sterling Europa caravan in February 2009. It has been great as the caravan is now much more easily manoevered into our driveway. I am writing to tell you however about our recent trip to the west coast of Scotland. When we were leaving Ledaig at Oban our 9 year old daughter hitched the caravan using the mover onto our car. A number of people watched as Jenna did this and commented that this should be used as a sales pitch. If you would like some pics let me know. In addition my husband and I get on a lot better when caravanning as I no longer have to guide him when hitching the car to the caravan. It's a great product and appreciated by all who use it.
